Mom's Island 2023

On September 11th, 2023, Harry, Eric and Cassandra took a chartered boat from Buccaneer Bay Marina and visited Mom's Island. When the island was in the possession of Leslie's family, her dad, Arch, spent a great deal of time at this marina, mooring his boat and transporting supplies to and from the island.

 

The marina's current owner, Bob, remembered Arch very distinctly. When he was a teenager, he would help Arch with his various projects and, one day, even went so far as to dive into the bay to retrieve some items that Arch accidentally dropped from the top of the walkway. Arch never forgot this act of kindness, and always made it a point to thank Bob for his help that day.

 

It was a comfort to share stories of the past and to hear more about the Bell family history as it relates to Mom's Island.
